Thierry Mugler Eau de Star, Ice*Men ~ new fragrances

Thierry Mugler Ice*Men fragrance Thierry Mugler will launch Eau de Star for women and Ice*Men for men in April in Europe, September in the US. Both fragrances are based on the "powerful patchouli olfactory signature of Angel":

Eau de Star, a women’s scent, is an aquatic oriental formulated by Louis [Louise] Turner of Quest.

Ice Men has a fresh patchouli accord, by Jacques Huclier of Quest. The bottle with a star sculpted into the side, evokes the freezing of the water. (via cosmeticnews)

Another description of Ice*Men:

More than a fragrance, ICEMen is a blast of polar energy, invigorating and icy. This woody and glacial-spicy fusion is ultimately virile and laced with iced coffee and frosted nutmeg for a dynamic harmony with its icy freshness. (via selfridges, where they will have it on counter by February)

Ice*Men's juice is identical to last year's limited edition A*Men Summer Flash.

Eau de Star is said to be similar to Angel Innocent, and has notes of patchouli, vanilla & mimosa. (via cosmeticsint)

looking forward to sniffing the men's. I always thought the men's Angel offshoots (A*Men, B*Men) were much more wearable than the womens.

I am not big on aquatic notes, and don't love Angel (or A*Men), so guessing I won't need either of these but will certainly try them. The iced coffee & nutmeg part sounds great.

TM is very good at rich notes in his scents - esp wood and coffee. B*Men has both and it is indeed a very rich, lovely wood and coffee scent. I've occasionally spritzed from my husband's bottle, but ultimately I think TM does exaggerate feminity/masculinity in the Angel scents to the point where I couldn't wear the men's versions any more than once in a while, and this is coming from someone who happily has worn Vetiver, Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin, Dreamer and John Varvatos. the only other super masculine scent I have come across that I couldn't wear regularly was Safari for men.

I do love Angel but have never been moved to buy a summer version because I have always got a bottle on the go already! I would be surprised if Angel in its original form was a hot weather perfume in anyones book but I do wear the Peony 'Garden of Stars' in the summer sometimes (for anyone who still thinks this is a bit OTT I must tell you I am in England and our hot weather lasts about 1 week)!

I'm not an aquatic scent lover either, but the blend of marine notes and patchouli in Calypso Marine is really nice. The Angel version could work out well. I'm betting, though, that it smells like a slightly altered version of Angel, if the three floral takes on the scent are any indication. :-(

Yes, they're very different - but the Cologne develops something vaguely Angel-like on my skin, sort of like the faint ghost of Angel on a coat a couple of weeks after the last time you wore it. They don't really have any notes in common, so I have no idea where it comes from...

ICE Men, smells AWESOME mixed with Bois de Paradis body cream and Fumerie Turque Serge Lutens. . . it's my favorite summer fragrance on my husband. . . it's icey, AND rich. Really complicated with lots of nuances. . .
