Nasomatto fragrance line now available in the US

Nasomatto perfumes

The Nasomatto line from Amsterdam is now available in the United States at Barneys. The line includes five fragrances:

Absinth ~ "The fragrance aims to evoke degrees of hysteria. It is the result of a quest to stimulate irresponsible behaviour."

Duro ~ "The fragrance aims to enhance all the manifestations of male strength."

Hindu Grass ~ "The fragrance aims to breathe the belief in universal peace and love. It is the result of a quest for the warm affection of humanity."

Narcotic Venus ~ "The fragrance is the result of a quest for the overwhelming addictive intensity of female sexual power."

Silver Musk ~ "The fragrance aims to evoke superhero magnetism. It is the result of a quest for mercurial liquid love sensation."

The Nasomatto fragrances are $148 each for 30 ml perfume.

I wouldn't mind the ad copy so much if they at least bothered to give a few clues as to what the scents might smell like! As it stands, this kind of thing -- giving wacko descriptions instead of helpful descriptions -- is becoming so common that it no longer even helps you stand out from the pack. (packs rampant cynicism back into box)

Patty sent me samples of these back in June and despite the goofy ad copy, I liked them. I'll look forward to seeing the bottles in person at Barneys (unless they are being dull and keeping it in New York)

Narcotic Venus - Hate the hooey description, love the scent. This is a gorgeous tuberose that is clean and a little fruity on me. It doesn't have the "bad girl" vibe of Fracas. I love both. NV for dressing in pastel colors, Fracas for vamping it up in black.

I did like the Hindu Grass the best because I thought it was the most original of the line. Plus, it smelled great. :)

The Silver Musk smells like Avon's Night Magic Musk. And, in my opinion, the best musk I have ever worn is Serge Lutens Clair de Musc.

Absinth was disappointing. I was expecting something so extraordinary based on the "hysteria" description, but the only thing hysterical about it is the price.

In conclusion, they are overpriced and disappointing.

This is obviously something for people who are quite wealthy.

I should probably retry these. Sampled them over the summer when I was in an extremely cynical phase and thought they were nice, but not overwhelmingly compelling. I don't think the ad copy helped my cynical take on them.
