He's not that young...42. Can I just say, YUM-YUM-YUM!!!! God, he is so hot. I made the mistake of playing the "Who would you sleep with in Hollywood" game with my DH, and Clive was at the top of my list. My husband has never gotten over it. It's not even that he's THAT good looking, he's just such a man's man. So strong and tons of confidence just oozing out of him. And those eyes!! I'm getting all hot and bothered thinking about him! I can't believe I've gone on and on about this guy like this?! I'm going to take a cold shower now!!

M, was he in the running for Bond? I missed the Daniel Craig movie in the theatres and now have to wait for it to get to Netflix, so don't know yet what I think of him.

You're right about James Bond! This boy's out of the same top drawer as Daniel Craig but probably better as he's minus the pout.

I suppose Lancome have hired him as a sexual image - interestingly in today's UK Guardian there's an article on aphrodisiacs that make it seem they would have been more successful with a scratch'n sniff. Apparently it's smell not sight that is the great aphrodisiac.

Some of your crazy guys at the Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago (!) have been measuring blood flow to various human genitalia while wafting smells under their guinea pigs' noses (probably poor students and so not representative - I'm hoping...).

They found that doughnuts and licorice really work for men (blood flow up 32%) but for the women it's liquorice and cucumber (13%)! How disappointing.....what about, for instance, Tubereuse Criminelle? Or Bandit? Not a cucumber or liquorice allsorts in sight!

I think it's an extraordinary bit of news - the smell of cucumber? an aphrodisiac? That's why I'm hoping they experimented on students (might explain the strange attraction to doughnuts?) and that the results are completely unrepresentative.....

I'm wearing Un Jardin sur le Nil and suddenly wondering - is there cucumber in this? Perhaps that's why the postwoman gave me such a gorgeous smile!

The results are almost *always* unrepresentative -- these studies usually use such small samples.

No! You have all got to go rent "Closer" tonight! He's so good in that, in fact there is a quote in that movie that me and all my friends say" Thanks for playing, now f*ck off and die"! He says that to Julia Roberts...! Brilliant!

That one is already in my Netflix queue, so I'll see it eventually (although my queue is optimistically long considering how I only watch about one movie a week, LOL)

Added Children of Men to my Netflix queue as well. Love PD James, but haven't read that one.

My recollection (perhaps faulty) was that the Bond folks DID want him, but he turned it down either because he was doing something else or because he didn't want to be typecast as "the Bond guy." Totally agree that he's much closer to my idea of what Bond looks like than Daniel Craig.

I'm hoping Lancome poses him naked, like M7 dude. What are the chances? A girl can dream...

I have seen almost all of his movies. It's just a matter of time before he receives all of the acting accolades that he so richly deserves. You have got to see him in that Spike Lee movie with Denzel and in Children of Men.

It is just a married woman's nightmare of a movie! And a married man's for that matter. Anyone who has ever been part of a relationship, that movie just makes you ache. And I couldn't count how many times the C*NT word was dropped...in fact I read that Natilie Portman bought Julia a gold-platted nameplate necklace with that word on it, and presented it to her upon their first rehearsal. After the movie rapped Julia gave her one that said
C*NT 2! I hope Hazel and Finn never find that necklace, she'll have lots of explaining to do!

I found "Closer" unwatchable, but he was excellent in "Inside Man," "Croupier," and the 'Second Sight' series.

After my mini rant regarding the latest Prada ads, I was way thrilled to read that Lancome has tapped Mr. Owen to be their newest spokesmodel. Very smart move by Lancome, as he's an actor that appeals to both men & women.

Inside Man is worth checking out; some very wicked twists and great touches of humour. And do rent King Arthur -- it was drubbed by reviewers but was a wonderful re-imaging of Arthurian legend.

Way, way, way late to the party on this, but he was amazing in the film "Children of Men". He is certainly a hottie. And, he can act!
